BSA 206 New German cinema

New German cinema

new german cinema, also known as the oberhausen manifesto was a film movement that stared in 1962 when a group of film makers created a new concept for German films that was in contrast to the consistent string of what they considered bland idealistic films that were caused from the depression of ww2, where most film makers wanted to avoid any darker tones that could hinder audiences, the film makers that followed the oberhausen manifesto made their films with more "artistic expression" and didn't cater to what sort of film would earn the most. the themes used in these films are of contemporaneity issues further pushing the opposition of idealistic films due to the depression of modern life in Germany at the time.
