Afterthoughts  1st showing night  hungry seagull productions ran a viewing of the final cut of the film on the 20th of June, for the event i was part of the catering team preparing the food for the "waiting room" where the audience stayed in before and after the showing. the event night ran without any problems and the audience attendance was above expected, not only because it was a Wednesday night, during the last meeting i have heard from several of the other members of hungry seagull productions that people enjoyed both the event and the short film, not without some few who had constructive criticism however (which was welcomed). i personally didn't get asked any questions during the event but from what i saw being there i do believe the overall event was a resounding success. own thoughts     overall the final product was as successful as could be hoped, its my personal opinion that the short film became more about the main character valui...

Compositing  most of hungry seagulls production team and myself had to learn how to do compositing due to the compositing team being to few to finish their job on time. the scene i was given to work on had many moving parts and was very difficult working on, due to a accident on set the camera was shoulder mounted and even after using after effects camera stabilization function the movement caused allot of problems using masks on this scene.     the first thing i did (after getting given the right version of the scene that moves somewhat less) was creating a 3d tracking camera and matching it to the wall were the shadows ran across, this allowed the animations to move from the background to the foreground, then i made all the masks for the pipes that run up the walls and animate them to match the movement of the camera, then a mask that outlines the main character as they walk up the alleyway, this was the most time consuming part of these tasks and as a ...

Animation's : part 4 i've assumed that my animation work for this project is adequate for the purposes of this short film, there has been little to no communication between myself and both the Director and art director after several attempts at getting a opinion on whether the animations i have done need any changes, so im left to presume they're fine, the only significant message i have received on my animations has come from the tutor who runs the course, that being making a few more and then being on hold if there needs to be another specific 2d animation created, to which i have done. these animations however are the most recent ones ive done up to this point.  this is the fixed and coloured version of one of my early animations made to see if it was in a style suitable for the short film. using multiple layers i pulled of a rotating effect by having one layer with half the frames being above and the other below the original animation.  another small ef...

Animation's : part 3  for the purposes of convenience for the compositors the previous animation i made for the "wall scrolling" scene has been split into the individual pieces that don't obviously interact with each other. other animations i have create are small effects that can be used to avoid too much repetition with the looping animations. this and the animation below were made specifically for the final scene based of the animatic.

Animation's : part 2 what was decided at one of the previous group meetings was that an animatic for the animation needed to be made to see what the animation should look like, however its fallen into the same problem we have had previously, in that it doesn't show the style of the animations movement, i've created animations to attempt to combat this issue based of the designs in the animatic, currently there seems to be a misunderstanding between the animation and film departments in what is required to create animation for a short film, i haven't had word back still on if the animations i have done are visually fitting what is wanted for this project. one of the longest scenes focused on a single, continuous animation was of a scrolling shot that goes up a wall, for this scene to have value in being in the final cut of the film at all it needed to be a more complex animation, my idea for this is having all the colours interact with each other, giving the audi...
