BSA 206 animation 2000

animation from 2000 Ryan (2004) Chris Landreth, a Canadian animator created an animated documentary called Ryan, it was about the conversation he had with his hero Ryan Larkin, also a Canadian animator who had been renowned by his past films like walking (1969) and Street Musique (1972) but have fallen on hard times, and due the homelessness, alcoholism and other drug addictions he was left begging for money on a street corner, the film was successful in that it inspired Ryan to get back into creating films. Bob Sabiston & Richard Linklater Bob is a american animator that developed an animation program called Rotoshop, this program lets you rotoscope live action film by paining over the key frames in the film, and the program does the in-betweens, he used this program to create films like Snack and Drink, a short film about a autistic boy getting food from a convenience store and feature length films such as Waking Life, which he had co-made with Richard Linklater , and in 2

BSA 206 project set up

Pre-Production story prototype ten's newfound friend malfunctions, try's to repair it, ten uses his own parts and subsequently becomes void so the friend try's saving him. this will be shown in short animations that reflect the montage and other scenes in wall-e  characters the character mainly focused on will be prototype ten, which is a 3d character i have made for my animation papers BSA225 and BSA226. the friend robot will be number 2, a older model of the same robot programs  animation will be done in Maya and edited in after effects, sound will be done in pro tools  techniques The techniques I will be reproducing include the use, and mixture of character body language, expressions (which will be done in Maya) and sound design (that will be done in pro tools) but still maintaining a mechanical aspect, also possibly including lighting and music to convey emotion and personality in a character.

BSA 206 animation from the 1990's 4

animation from the 1990's a bugs life/antz (1998) a bugs life made by Pixar and Antz made by dream works are both 3d animated films that share a very simuler premises, this lead pixar/disney to believe that one of there former animation directors Jeffrey Katzenberg had stolen the idea and reworked it as he had created dream works after leaving. even though both films were  in the same year they are both considered successful     gorillaz (1998) gorillaz is a virtual band that consists of four animated members, Russel, Murdoc, noodle and 2-d, created by Bamon Aldarn from the rock band blur and Jamie Hewlett who was the comic artist behind the character designs, Bamon and Jamie formed the band in response to what they where seeing on MTV at the time because they believed it was all just senseless, mindless music videos.   perfect blue (1998) directed by satoshi kon perfect blue is a psychological horror film about a pop star getting stalked, told from multiple different pers

BSA 206 The hill farm

Image
the hill farm the hill farm was a 1988 uk animated, non narrative short film with no dialog made by Mark Baker, this short film took him 3 years to make and is about the lives of a pair of farmers, however since it doesn't have a traditional story/ it dosent have a narrative it is open to many possibility's, this works well with it also having no dialogue as it opens up the use a variety of new things for comical effect to which it does. the hill farm won best animated film from the BAFTA (British academy of film and television arts).

BSA 206 Reservoir Dogs

Image
Reservoir Dogs Reservoir Dogs, directed by Quentin Tarantino was a non-liner film that popularized the genre back in 1992, the films premise is the conflict between a group of thief's who just pulled of a diamond heist, but poorly due to a tip to the cops, and they believe one of them is a rat. the films success can also be attributed to its editing leaded by Sally Menke, which there is plenty of as to make the non-liner storytelling coherent, and from then on she has edited many other films directed by Tarantino such as kill bill, pulp fiction and inglorious basterds non-linear storytelling is something that often can be done poorly without proper editing or purpose, the most common examples of this is when a film shows the"false ending" at the beginning of the film for no explored reason, and often can be seen through as no film would end in such a way, but when done well it can be a interesting film style to watch, reservoir dogs did it well in that the film jump

BSA 206 CGI

Image
a live action film where CGI detracted from the story the mummy Returns: the scorpion king in a attempt of making a CGI half man half scorpion the mummy falls short when the scorpion king arrives, a moment that was suppose to be threatening is just strange due to its un-canniness   a live action film that the CGI was seamlessly integrated and enhance the film Jurassic park: dinosaurs  the CGI in this movie seamlessly integrates with the film as at no point do you stop and think that it is fake, you subconsciously know that the dinosaurs are not real, obviously because dinosaurs are extinct, but because the CGI is done so well you allow it to be reality in the film.

BSA 206 Blair witch project

Image
Blair witch project the Blair witch project is a found footage horror film made in 1999 and was directed by Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Myrick, the films premise is a student film maker, her ex boyfriend and his friend are making a documentary on the myth of the Blair witch, only to fall into trouble themselves. my opinion on the film  being one of the first of its kind and causing a chain reaction of subsequent found footage horror films may lead most to think its a great horror film, however the key to horror films is horror and this film doesn't pull it off(of course what scares people is subjective but this is my perspective) , at no point was i scared or even had a feeling unease and even at some points the film was laughable in how the characters jumped between being crazy and (attempting to be) rational, i think the films popularity purely derived from its marketing campaign and new film style. marketing campaign the true success of this film can be attributed to its

BSA 206 run lola run

Image
Run Lola run run Lola run is a German film made in 1998 and directed by tom tykwer that explores the concept of the "butterfly effect" on the events a couple / Lola and Mani go trough on the day where Mani needs to transfer stolen money his boss, but loses it, the film goes through 3 possibility each having a minor change that creates a flow on effect to both other people (shown though a photography montage) and themselves. the movie revived 28 film awards and nominated for 19 one of these awards was for best cinematography which can be seen through how the movie uses multiple filming techniques, such as when the first change occurs in each "reality" that causes the flow on effect in the film, is done in animation almost to hint at "this is where a change will occur" since the animation is surreal like the concept of the butterfly effect having that massive of a effect on the characters lives. another film technique run Lola run uses is montage, but

BSA 206 The Thief and the Cobbler

Image
Richard William's the thief and the cobbler / Arabian knight Richard Williams is a well known animator of Canadian/ British decent best known for his work on who framed Roger Rabbit and the unfinished film the thief and the cobbler. this was a animated film in production that Richard had been working on for over 25 years however through many hardships and miss-organisation it never got completed, Warner brothers, who had funded the film for part of its production took the rights to all the work that had been made up to that point and made another film out of it Richard Williams wasn't experienced in making feature length films, only ever making short films about a generalized topic, this caused him to over do the productions time to create, always adding things and changing the story, which would be near impossible to deal with, not just for the animators but for the story to make sense with the conclusion, planed/story boarded, but the thing was there was no story board n

BSA 206 New German cinema

New German cinema new german cinema, also known as the oberhausen manifesto was a film movement that stared in 1962 when a group of film makers created a new concept for German films that was in contrast to the consistent string of what they considered bland idealistic films that were caused from the depression of ww2, where most film makers wanted to avoid any darker tones that could hinder audiences, the film makers that followed the oberhausen manifesto made their films with more "artistic expression" and didn't cater to what sort of film would earn the most. the themes used in these films are of contemporaneity issues further pushing the opposition of idealistic films due to the depression of modern life in Germany at the time.
