Dogme 95  Dogme 95 was a concept invented in 1995 by two danish directors who wanted to return films to there purest form, removing excessive technology from the filming process that they believed tarnishes genuine creativity. this became a "manifesto" with a set of rules that need to be fulfilled for a film to be considered Dogme, this was labeled as the Vow of Chastity.  the vows Shooting must be done on location. Props and sets must not be brought in. If a prop is necessary for the story, a location must be chosen where this prop is to be found The sound must never be produced apart from the images or vice versa. Music must not be used unless it occurs  where the scene is being shot The camera must be handheld. Any movement or immobility attainable in the hand is permitted. film editing we have now finished shooting the film and i got the job of editing this film since i was the only one willing, this consisted of splicing all the scenes together, editing the speeds they play at, creating freeze frames to indicate particular or exaggerate certain things, creating additional camera movements, creating transitions via the key frame and opacity tool, adding motion blur to indicate speed, adding a title, credits and sounds all done in after effects. after doing this i found that the film went for one minute and 30 secs, which was relatively the perfect length for the assessment.   sound editing i also decided to add sounds to the stop motion, i used almost only sound effects that sit already had except for the classic DUN DUN DUUUN sound that i got off YouTube and referenced in the credits, this process was pretty much the same as the film editing besides changing the audio levels to suit the scenes.

shooting stage we have set up our first set on top of two tables pushed together as to not hurt ourselves by staying on our knees for hours on end whilst shooting. also since there are black paper walks surrounding our sets set up, i found out we could use that to our advantage, originally we would have to have opened and closed the walls of the set each time we moved the characters , which would have taken a very long to do, but instead we moved the set next to it but leaving a gap so i could fit in and change the poses of the characters between frames, then altered the lighting as to make it appear to be a backing to the stage/ have less shadows, saving us allot of time. character posing we have decided that i would pose/animate the characters while Chris would operate the camera and also see in there was to fast of a movement between frames.To my benefit I did the actions the characters would do myself, just to get the idea of the relative movements in a single scene/ series ...

we have finished building sets, things such as these where done by me  creating buildings out of cardboard boxes, adding roofs, window holes for lighting and gluing a building like texture onto those said boxes   grass attached to the hill was made via a hot glue gun and some plastic/fake grass i had found in the working area    metal under grass/ ground was added so the magician can climb the hill (has magnets in his shoes) window holes for lighting were made simply by measuring/estimating the angle the light would come from and using a pocketknife cutting out two holes, one leading to the verandas and another, a higher one at the back, to created the effect of indoor lighting coming down onto the street.   seating made via cutting out polystyrene blocks into seat shapes, based on the original t pose drawings of the characters that where to sit in them, so that they would fit/i measured the relative knee and sitting pose highs of the characters. then i...

disturbing scenes i recall from childhood and now female gremlin elevator scene, this was at a young age, however it still comes across as disturbing to, this, day. im not sure if it was suppose to be funny and whoever had that idea should have been exiled from the film industry, he was clearly too attached to this series. mashed up toys from toy story, at the time this was like a horror film, just the idea that not only toys are alive, and have emotions and then having them torn apart and turned into  monster's for eternity, scolded by those that once loved them... being a over analyst as a kid will mess you up for sure. now firz the cat, all i can say is the cringe was to strong, even if the characters in this animated film where human it will still be sickening to the core, no exaggeration at all, and this was made in 1972, how did this happen you might ask? im not religious but it was clearly Satan.

La Jetee this film from 1962 made by Chris Marker was a unusual story told through narration and a series of pictures, a alternate history were world war 3 had occurred and a man has to "travel through time" to fix the now destroyed world, i thought this film was interesting in a way but it was very slow, the story could have been summed up far quicker, but for the time it was made perhaps people had more patients, the story is were the film excels at most since it was very low budget explaining the film being told through pictures, however that is not to say its a great story, as i said it could be summed up far quicker, also the unusual attachment to the woman he saw as a child seems illogical but does support the ending twist which i wasn't in-fact expecting until just before it happens, which was entertaining. this influence several other films such as 12 monkeys, terminator and was influenced by Alfred Hitchcock
