Colour use in film
Colour use in film
many film makers use colour association to work underlining messages into their works, using perceived notions such as red symbolizing anger or passion, or alternativlty creating a link between events or characters and the colours that are seen when they are prevalent, an example of this is in the film The Great Gatsby,
in the great Gatsby, desire is represented by green, such as the light across the water that Mr Gatsby knows is from the house where the girl he loves lives with her husband. the "valley of ashes" is gray and colourless due to the lifeless, industrial and inescapablenss for those who are there. yellow and black are used frequently for luxury and greed, red, which the girl who Gatsby commits adultery with, is maliciousness and selfishness.
