techniques
the techniques i have found so far from a presentation by Mariel Cartwright, one of the Skullgirls animators at and from several other games are•Overshoot
stretching the striking limb for a single frame to create a "impact"
•Smear frames
there are many ways this is done but the primary one is a "colour smudge" used mostly in games but there are other types i may try
•Special effects / a combination of multiple techniques that creates a super attack
i haven't found anything specific with this other than just visually following the special moves in street fighter third strike
•Follow through
Often
done with loose clothing and accessories that move separately to the characters
body, Shows
the continuation of movement caused by the action with said clothing
the continuation of movement caused by the action with said clothing
•Breaking the body / flexible bones
this is when a characters body is disproportionate or flexible where it shouldn't be to "sell" a motion
•Holding frames (may be specific to programming not animation)
where you pause on a frame to make it stand out and Convey the actual striking of the attack/ make it easier to read
the character i will be using for most of my animations is from a game i am currently making called Fool and they are said fool
